The law is already in me, on my heart

Posted on September 3, 2021September 3, 2021 by Maria Huemmer

God’s puts His law within us and gives us the ability to discern His law. This is quite the treasure and super power if we can harness it!

This is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord:

I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Jeremiah 31:33–34 (RSVCE)

I love that the law is written on our hearts and not our brains or our mouths or anywhere else.

When I was younger, I dismissed emotions over reason when discerning what was right and wrong. I now know that a formed conscience and a strong life leads to a strong, but vulnerable heart. A heart like God’s. A heart that knows the law but breaks when it is broken. A heart that seeks the Lord and overflows when other hearts are full with the Lord as well.

If a person is seeking the truth, ideally they’ll find The Truth, God Himself.

But for those of us who have the unimaginable grace of finding God, it’s important that we point to Him and teach about Him carefully… Careful to not interject our own thoughts or opinions in God’s realm. Reading through Jeremiah, God is very critical of prophets who preach their own beliefs rather than God (Check out Chapter 29)!

We can proceed carefully when our heart is full of kindness, love, and fire.. not fire to be right or even to teach directly, but a fire to ignite and inspire and support relationships with God! 🔥

As of this writing I’m still in a pandemic and raising three little kids with my loving husband, and working full-time and yeah I have a couple pounds I could lose. But when I have the quiet of a morning free, that time is spent with Him. It is time that will always be well spent and will always bear fruit whether it’s evident to me to others or simply to Him who may get some small joy in that I seek Him first.

Let Us Pray:

Create and re-create in us a clean heart.

Trace and etch and carve, if you must, your law on our hearts until You are all we seek. You are everything, You are our All, You are our epitome and ultimate fulfillment.

Bless and be with all people of our Earth and those who work in your name, that your true Spirit will reach all and that all will know You!

Journey With Me!

My name is Maria and I am a child of God, a wife, and a mother.

My mission here is to create a space to share reflections, walk and learn with others on the spiritual journey, our quest to seek out the purpose of our earthly life and spread the good news!

Everyone's journey is different, but I believe that ultimately the path can lead us all to the same place, which is peace, truth, and Love.
